On Thursday(2025/01/23), the rainbow flag proudly flew across Thailand.
Since 2001, when the Netherlands became the first country to allow same-sex marriage, more and more nations have joined in embracing marriage equality.
On this historic day at Siam Paragon, hundreds of same-sex couples tied the knot across Thailand, as the country became the first in Southeast Asia (and the third in Asia, after Taiwan and Nepal) to recognize marriage equality.
From now on, there will no longer be 'man' and 'woman,' but 'spouse' and 'spouse,' united as equal 'spouses.'
Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn delivered a speech via video to mark this significant day, reaffirming the Thai government’s commitment to equal treatment for all genders and forms of love. The 'Marriage Equality Act' serves as a starting point to demonstrate Thai society’s recognition and respect for diversity, including gender, sexual orientation, race, and religion. It is the power of love in all its forms that has made this historic day for Thailand possible.
